Introduction to Plezi: Marketing Automation Tool

Plezi is a marketing automation tool that fully automates B2B inbound marketing experience. While automation platforms like ActiveCampagin and Hubspot focus on CRM and many other marketing campaigns, Plezi keeps it simple by driving content-centric efforts to convert leads into paying customers.

The marketing automation sector was worth $6.1 billion in 2021, and research predicts it will double by 2023. It indicates the increasing demand for efficient marketing automation software and tools like Plezi taking centre stage.

I have spent quite some time working on Plezi, and it is a remarkable tool that organises a brand’s marketing efforts in the right direction. In this blog, I will discuss all about Plezi and its features, along with a simple tutorial on how you can set it up.

What is Plezi?

“Plezi is a marketing automation tool you can use across your full marketing funnel.”
To better understand this marketing automation tool, let’s first analyse how a marketing funnel works.

A marketing funnel has three stages:

  • Acquire visitors
  • Covert them on the website
  • Engage through lead nurturing

So, Plezi works in all these three areas. You can allow the automation tool to generate content dynamically for you or possibly use the platform as a content catalogue.

Plezi offers many features that can take your marketing efforts to the next level. But for the sake of simplicity, here I have mentioned some of my favourite features from every marketing stage.

  • Content Management: You can tag everything in one place. PDFs, blogs, lead magnets, etc., all types of content can get tagged and used for the right channel at the right time.
  • Smart Forms: Helps in creating forms that update according to the prospects’ buyer journey. Such progressive forms capture leads’ attention and assist them in smoothly reaching the bottom of the marketing funnel.
  • Smart Campaigns and Smart Scoring: These features make up the best lead nurturing experience businesses can provide to their prospects. More about this in the next blog.

Pricing of Plezi

Plezi currently has two pricing tiers.

Pricing plans of Plezi

I picked the Iron package because it gave access to valuable features like smart campaigns and drip marketing. Also, keep in mind there is an onboarding cost you have to pay while signing up to Plezi, and you have to pay 29 pounds extra for an additional 1000 contacts.

Many CRM integrations are available at Plezi, like Salesforce, Hubspot, etc., although I would love to see ActiveCampaign on the list. But it also integrates with Zapier, which allows connecting to tonnes and tonnes of other CRMs.

Setting Up Plezi: Step by Step

Step 1: Setting up a Domain

You have to choose three domains or subdomains you want to use and send them to dns@plezi.co.

To make things easier, I will share how I went through this step. I selected three domains and subdomains based on my requirements which were:

  • Domain for sending emails: apexure.com
  • Subdomain to track links present inside the email: link.apexure.com
  • Subdomain to host the landing pages: content.apexure.com or pages.apexure.com

Be sure to get creative with your domain and subdomain phrases.

After selecting the domain and subdomains, you have to share them with the provided email, and the Plezi team will share an easy to follow list of instructions with you. Through the guide, you will be able to set the domains as part of your DNS. If you can’t figure it out on your own, reaching out to Plezi is the best way.

Step 2: Setup Tracking

Next, you need to install the tracking pixel on the Plezi website. The tracking code or script will allow the tool to understand when visitors visit a specific section of your website.

All you have to do is click on settings (present at the right-upper most navigation of the website)

Activate the trigger across all pages, click save, and publish.

You can also test whether all the settings you have executed till now are working or not by jumping back to the Plezi site on the website tracking page. Click the button right next to the edit one.

It might showcase an error of not being able to find the code. Don’t worry about it. Once you jump to the main dashboard, you will see that the tracking got turned on. I talked about this error with the Plezi team. It was because we set up the script with the help of Google Tag Manager; the automation tool cannot pick it up right away, but the data coming through is authentic.

Step 3: Link up Social Media Accounts

Again, head over to the settings option on the Plezi website and click on Social Accounts.

Click on the link account, enter login details and sign in. This is how easy you can connect your social media accounts to Plezi.

Step 4: Integrate Brand with Plezi

Under settings, head over to appearance.

Integrate Brand with Plezi

Here, you can set up your logo, favicon and add your custom colours. Remember, for favicon, you have to use a 16*16 pixel image. Suppose you don’t have this specific size of your favicon, head over to the website called favicon.io. Drag and drop the elements you want to use as favicons and generate.

Upload all the brand integrations on the website, and you are good to go.

Conclusion

Plezi does an excellent job when it comes to content marketing and leads nurturing with its unique features like smart campaigns and progressive forms. Beginners can find setting up Plezi a bit tricky as it requires knowing some advanced settings. Nevertheless, their team is always present to help you out.

Smart campaigns are the best feature by far of Plezi, so I think it deserves a blog of its own. Check it out to get the insights you need to understand Plezi as a marketing automation tool better.
